Biofabri is a biopharmaceutical company that was founded in 2008 with a vision: to research, develop and manufacture human vaccines.
This strategic project was further strengthened in 2009 with the acquisition of AstraZeneca's business unit and facilities based in O Porriño (Pontevedra). The manufacturing plant, which opened in 1939, has a built up area of 12,000 m² on a 43,000 m² site, and has always remained at the forefront of technological advances.
We focus on two strategic business lines: human biological vaccines and pharmaceutical products. The Pharma Division specialises in contract manufacturing and product distribution.

Biofabri has undertaken several ambitious R&D projects to develop and manufacture innovative vaccines for human use. The company was created to focus on medicines for human health, and draws on the experience and know-how its parent company CZ Veterinaria has gained over decades of manufacturing cutting-edge vaccines.
Worthy of mention among its various important projects is the strategic alliance between Biofabri and the University of Zaragoza for the development and manufacture of the first prophylactic vaccine against human tuberculosis.
This vaccine will be the first to be developed and manufactured in Spain.
The new vaccine has been designed by the University of Zaragoza's prestigious Division of Mycobacterial Research and was developed from a genetically modified bacterial strain using genetic engineering techniques. This vaccine is expected to replace the current BCG vaccine, given the protection it offers against pulmonary tuberculosis.

Our facilities offer a 3,000 m² storage and distribution area, and products are stored under controlled temperature conditions with temperatures ranging from 15-25ºC to 2-8ºC.
